At Small Treasures, children are allowed to be a partner in learning.  A high quality, child-directed, educator-supported program is offered.  The children are involved in planning the day’s activities and projects, and in this way learn that their thoughts and ideas are valued and respected.  Children learn cooperation and negotiation, trial and error, and problem solving – as well as many other very important skills which they will carry with them for the rest of their lives.

All organic food is served, and a "green" outlook is fostered by teaching the children environmental thoughtfulness in small ways they can understand.  The outdoor space contains rabbits, chickens, and  fruit/vegetable gardens, where the children can assist with maintenance and care, and there are several sweet dogs and a sassy cat on the premises.

The environment is a child friendly farm setting in a convenient, suburban area.  "Outdoor play everyday" is the motto, as temperature permits, and we will even enjoy warm, rainy days in our slickers and boots if children arrive dressed appropriately.  When schedules permit, I host a fun day at my daughter's local Stoughton farm where my two horses are stabled, complete with pony rides for the children!

As a photographer and writer, I strive to incorporate an appreciation for language and the beauty around us in my daily program.  Books, music, and art are interwoven throughout our days.
